The Campbell County Economic Development Corporation, Campbell County, the City of Gillette and the Town of Wright thanked readers for their interest in the area. The organization said it had compiled information on this site and a companion regional site for business owners planning to relocate their companies or expand operations to northeast Wyoming.
A healthy, mineral-centered economy
The letter described Campbell County as having a healthy economy that, like the State of Wyoming, was centered on the minerals-extraction industry. It said the skills required for mining and its support businesses applied to most manufacturing applications. The availability of those skills and an attractive western lifestyle were presented as reasons business owners might want to move both a business and a family to the region.
Many international companies, the letter continued, had located operations in the Powder River Basin to serve the local mining industry and multi-state regions. It suggested that the same approach might suit the reader. This was 2001 recruitment copy, not a current claim about any company, vacancy or available opportunity.
Business climate, properties and utilities
Wyoming was described as a business-friendly state where local and state elected officials were accessible. Campbell County was said to have a ready inventory of commercial and industrial properties and developed sites. Developers and bankers, the letter said, would work to provide an ideal new facility for an operation.
Labor force and technical training
The letter described Campbell County’s labor force as well educated. It said many people held secondary degrees earned at the local campus of the northern Wyoming community-college system and that the college provided technical training programs and customized courses for industry.
An overview of culture, economy and demographics
The letter said this site and its companion were designed to give readers an overview of the county’s culture, economy and demographics. It asked readers to use the left-side menu to find additional information. In the original framed layout, `nav.htm` supplied that menu and `top.htm` carried the phrase “Expanding the Horizons of Campbell County Gillette and Wright.”
Its message was consistent with the genuine site across later eras: Campbell County’s economic-development case rested on natural resources, transferable industrial skills, available sites, infrastructure, technical training and the life of Gillette, Wright and the surrounding county.
