Climate
Gillette and Campbell County were described as offering year-round outdoor recreation, with hiking, biking, fishing and boating in spring and summer and snowmobiling, skiing and sledding in fall and winter. Thirty-year averages listed 57 degrees annually, 31 in January and 85 in July, with 17.14 inches of precipitation, 64.7 inches of snow and a 127-day growing season. The National Weather Service was named as the source. Current climate normals are available from the National Centers for Environmental Information.
Employment and income, 2006
The largest line in the archived table was mining, with average employment of 6,938 and average weekly income of $1,305. Construction followed with 2,658 workers at $885, retail trade with 2,078 at $474, accommodation and food service with 1,620 at $226, and wholesale trade with 1,258 at $1,195. The table reported total Campbell County average employment of 20,793 and average weekly income of $868.
Other recorded sectors included agriculture and related work, utilities, manufacturing, transportation and warehousing, information, finance and insurance, professional service, company management, real estate and leasing, administrative and waste services, health care and social assistance, arts and recreation, other services and government. Values varied widely across sectors. They document the 2006 labor structure and should not be used to estimate current wages or employment.
Housing cost
For January through early May 2007, the page recorded 62,050,810 in sales volume and an average sale price of $235,608. For the comparable 2006 period, it listed 47,151,765 and an average of $212,991. The source was identified as local multiple-listing data.
Second-quarter 2007 average rents were listed as $691 for an apartment, $292 for a mobile-home lot, $830 for a mobile home and $1,127 for a house. Those are period figures only. The source and methods may differ from current housing series.
Average utility costs
The archive recorded a gas pass-on rate of $0.89 as of July 2007, with a note that it fluctuated. Monthly electricity was listed at $64.33 in summer and $80.38 in winter; sewer at $17.11 and $17.47; water at $35.50 and $12.28; and trash at $15.75 in both seasons. The table was marked updated April 2008 and cited the City of Gillette. These are not current rates and do not include enough methodology to support present comparisons.
Tax benefits
The page highlighted no personal income tax, no corporate tax, no intangibles tax, no inventory tax, low sales tax, no sales tax on food and low property tax. Its example applied a 9.5 percent assessment ratio and an average levy of 0.061 to a $150,000 market value, producing a total of $869.25. Education
The archived education section reported stable enrollment of 7,500 students in the countywide school district, then the third largest in Wyoming. It described an area of roughly 5,000 square miles and twenty-four facilities: a high school center, a junior/senior high school, an alternative transitional facility, two junior high schools, fifteen elementary schools including three rural schools, and an aquatic center.
